I bet you\u2019ve been watching the stock market lately. One day you will see a particularly low low, and another day things start looking up. It really is a constant rollercoaster and symbolizes a lot of the emotions and attitudes our country is experiencing in such an uncertain time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n What if I told you there is something that never changes? Or rather someone<\/i>? As we watch with uncertainty as everything we once knew and loved continues to change all around us, there is one thing we can chose to fix our eyes on that will never change – our sovereign God.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Hebrews 13:8\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cJesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n What has been changing in your life? Do you wake up and now work from home? Or do you find yourself now without work? Have you become a homeschool teacher to your kids? Do you miss the freedom of social interaction and relationships with others? Do your days now consist of meeting everyone else\u2019s needs tirelessly when you used to have a couple hours to recharge? Are you lonely, weary or simply feeling the weight of your responsibilities? Or maybe like me, you simply miss the warm hug of someone close to you. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n There is no question things have been turned upside down for many of us. Our places of work have shut down, all events have been cancelled, and we are called to isolate and stay home. In this time of isolation, we can chose one of two things. We can either fix our eyes on the unchanging glorious nature of Christ, or we can fix our eyes on the ever-changing opinions of headlines across social media, news channels, and even opinions of family, friends and acquaintances.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Psalm 33:11<\/p>\n \u201cThe counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n I want to encourage you, dear reader, that whatever God is trying to accomplish in the midst of this unsettling time, is what He will accomplish. Since He is unchanging, since His plans will stand forever, this virus and anything that happens as a result of it does not phase Him. Is He watching the stock market ride its ups and downs while biting his nails and shaking in fear? Of course not. He already knew.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n Numbers 23:19<\/p>\n \u201cGod is not a man, that He should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will He not do it? Or Has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?\u201d<\/p>\n So for this very season, His unchanging nature can greatly encourage our hearts. As we go about our days and wait out the uncertainty of when this will all be over, we can take heart. We can remember that Christ has already overcome the world.<\/p>\n John 16:33<\/p>\n \u201cI have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart, I have overcome the world.\u201d<\/p>\n Instead of turning on the news tonight, to hear more and more of what will turn your heart to fear, I encourage you, I plead with you<\/i>, to meditate on God\u2019s great unchanging faithfulness. When the storms of life come, and they will come, God remains unchanging. What better thought can we chose to set our minds on than this?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nShare this:<\/h3>
