Today I went to get a few things at Costco, and let me tell you, it takes SERIOUS DISCIPLINE to go in that store!
I went in there with an envelope of cash and a specific budget to stick to, and I ended up spending every last penny and definitely pondered using the credit card to cover the rest…I think I might need a little more discipline.
Just to give you a few things to think about…let’s look at some verses on this topic:
2 Timothy 1:7
“For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.”
Proverbs 13:4
“The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing;
But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.”
What does it mean that the lazy man desires? Could this be referring to the fact that we want what we don’t have?
Desiring new and better things is almost second nature to us, and the more we let ourselves fall into laziness, the more we have time to THINK about the things we don’t have.
Challenge to you:
Instead of falling back into our old ways, let’s be proactive today and seek diligence above all else. Whether that means sticking to our guns at Costco, or even putting in a little extra time at work to get that task done. We could all use a little dose of diligence, and let’s not wait until tomorrow to put that into ACTION.
